Solar Energy Code Standard
Is your Las Vegas plumber qualified to install solar energy products? The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has formally bestowed the designation of American National Standard upon the 2009 Uniform Solar Energy Code (USEC). The building code was put together by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). It is the only model code governing all phases of solar energy applications including the installation, inspection and maintenance of systems and their component products to be designated as such.
This standard building code will take the guess work out of solar energy systems installed in the Las Vegas area and make sure that they are safe and reliable.
Here’s what the 2009 USEC covers:
- Comprehensively covers solar thermal and photovoltaic systems
- Allows the installation of single wall heat exchangers
- Requires access to solar collector and its components for maintenance, repair
- Provides protection requirements for freezing temperatures, water hammer, rodents, corrosion, ultraviolet radiation, decay, termites
- Waterproofing requirements
